You may know that it’s a rough time for digital media. With the rise in AI-generated content (which we don’t do!) and the volatility of Google algorithms, even huge publications like Vice and Buzzfeed have gone under. Most other publications that are still running have had to lay off staff.
That’s why many publications, writers, and creatives have switched to a subscriber model, where much of their content is put behind a paywall. While I’ve considered doing this, I would love to keep all of our content free for everyone if I can manage it. I know that life is expensive and I don’t want to low-tox living to be only accessible to the wealthy.
Whenever I ask folks what they want more of from The Filtery, the answer I hear most is “more articles!”
While I want to continue meeting those requests and serving our amazing readers (like you!), it’s getting harder and harder to do that in a financially sustainable way. It takes a lot of resources (money, time, energy) to run a website like this one.
So, that’s why I’ve decided to open up donations. If you have benefited from our work at The Filtery and have the means, I would be grateful for any support you choose to give. By clicking on the buttons above or below, you can easily give either a one-time donation or you can set up recurring monthly donations (of any amount of your choosing).
Please note that donations are not tax deductible. Additionally, donating does not currently get you access to any extra “bonus” content. (As I’ve said, I’d like to keep all of the content accessible for everyone if possible. But I may explore a subscription/membership in the future!)
