a horizontal image of 5 desavery products sitting next to the boxes the bottles came in

I’ve been using Desavery for a few months now, and it’s quickly become one of my newest favorite natural skincare brands.

My first impression upon opening up these skincare products was how luxurious they felt. I don’t know if it’s the glass bottles, the smell of the ingredients, the texture of the oils, or a combination of all of the above. (Probably a combo.)

It might sound a little dramatic, but whenever I apply a few of my Desavery products during my morning or evening routine, it kind of stops me in my tracks for a few seconds. When I put my hands to my face and the scents hit my nose, it’s like I’m instantly brought into the present moment and there’s a calming in my nervous system. (And if you’ve taken my course, you know how important I believe nervous system regulation is when living a low-tox lifestyle!)

Well, I didn’t find out until after I’d been using the products for several weeks that that’s literally the goal of the brand! To be honest, I didn’t do a ton of research into the brand before I told them they could send me a package. I looked to make sure the ingredients were ‘clean,’ but that was about it.

It wasn’t until I’d been using the products for a while that I actually got on their website and started looking at more info about the purpose and formulations.

Turns out that Andrea Dinnick (the founder/owner, and a former journalist) formulated these products intentionally to “impact mood” and “enhance brain chemistry.”

She says, “I want your skincare routine to be your time. A few pleasurable moments in your day, inhaling our plant ingredients and getting your skin in the best shape of its life.”

Well, if you ask me, she succeeded. Because I was definitely experiencing all of that before I was aware that’s what she was trying to do!

I tried 5 of their star products and I’m going to tell you what I thought of each one.

(BTW, there are videos on each product page where Andrea walks you through not only how to use the product, but also some thoughts behind her formulations and why she chose the ingredients for that specific product.)

Smooth Hyaluronic Acid

Good for: Anti-aging

This quickly became my favorite of all the Desavery products I’ve tried. It’s very light and smooth, so I use at any time of day—morning or evening. Some days I apply it only once per day, and sometimes I apply it twice.

I don’t know if I experienced some sort of placebo effect, but I swear my forehead wrinkles looked noticeably less prominent after using this after just a week / week and a half.

(It could be a combination of using all of the products together. The hyaluronic acid is specifically for perking, plumping, and reducing fine lines, but some of the other products have anti-aging features as well.)

Dream Oil Cleanser

Good for: Removing makeup & wiping away the day before bed

I really like this Oil Cleanser. It’s meant to be used at night (hence the name Dream), so it’s made with ‘sleepy’ oils like rose, frankincense and spikenard, all of which help to induce relaxation.

It’s also got camellia and castor oil, which not only help to cleanse the skin, but also support a balanced skin microbiome.

I personally still use my standard (soapy) face wash in the mornings or in the shower.

(BTW, if you’re new to oil cleansing, here’s a primer. The basic concept is that it removes the grime on your face but without stripping your skin of it’s natural oils and drying your face out.)

Stellar Daily Serum

Good for: Sensitive, aging, and acne-prone skin

I thought the Pure Botanical Serum would be my favorite serum (I’m a sucker for anything with the word ‘botanical’ in it, lol!), but the Stellar Daily Serum is actually my favorite! (It’s my 2nd favorite of all the products I tried, after the Hyaluronic Acid.)

I love the way it smells. Plus, it’s lightweight and non-greasy, so it’s a good daytime moisturizer.

It’s got a combination of prickly pear seed oil, rosehip seed oil, clary sage, bergamot, and frankincense. All of these together help to hydrate skin, while also having anti-inflammatory and calming effects on the skin and nervous system.

Pure Botanical Serum

Good for: Very sensitive skin, fragrance-sensitive folks

This serum is also relatively light and non-greasy, but it does feel a little heavier than the Daily Serum, so it became my nighttime serum. (But, I was also using too much of it at first. I’m now only using 3-4 drops and it doesn’t feel as heavy.)

The smell isn’t quite as nice, but that’s on purpose—it’s fragrance-free and contains only 5 oils (but no essential oils):

  • prickly pear
  • rosehip
  • camellia
  • grape seed
  • and meadowfoam

The oils themselves do still have a slight scent to them, but it’s very mild.

If you have uber-sensitive skin, then you might want to try this one. Andrea (the founder) says that the Daily Serum is great for folks with conditions like Rosacea, but the Pure Serum takes it even further, as it’s formulated specifically for folks with very sensitive skin. She removed the essential oils and all that’s left is a protective, anti-inflammatory, nutrient-rich blend of plant oils.

The Garrigue Body Oil

Good for: Varicose veins, all-over moisturization

Okay, YUM. This Body Oil smells and feels so luscious. I’m obsessed with it, to be honest.

Andrea says she was on a hike in France a few years ago and the smells were so amazing that she basically decided to source the ingredients for a new Body Oil right from there.

It’s got fig seed oil “from the sun-baked hills of Provence,” combined with other nourishing ingredients like rice bran oil (which has natural squalene) and Cypress (which has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties and has also been shown to help with varicose veins).

The formula also has lots of omega fatty acids as well as magnesium, which can help with relaxation.

This is also my go-to oil when I massage out my husband’s tight neck.

Pros & Cons of Desavery

In my opinion, there are lots of PROS:

✅ Most of their products are natural or certified organic.
✅ They have minimal ingredients.
✅ They are formulated very intentionally, with the goal of promoting relaxation, lowering cortisol, and regulating the nervous system through scent.
✅ The plant oils contain various nourishing, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and anti-microbial properties, which make these products great for a wide variety of skin types.
✅ In my experience, they really work.
✅ Many of them are sourced through Fair Wild, which promotes global biodiversity
sourced through Fair Wild which promotes global biodiversity.
✅ They’re great for sensitive skin.
✅ They’re vegan/cruelty-free.
✅ They’re packaged with minimal plastic.
✅ They’re made in small batches.

And one main potential CON:

The cost.

With products run from $45 to $90. This is pretty standard for the “luxury” or “anti-aging” skincare department, but it’s obviously not the most affordable natural skincare brand on the market.

I do think you get what you pay for with Desavery, though. The ingredients are very healthy, high-quality, and responsibly-sourced.

I can tell that a lot of thought went into the formulations in order to make them as gentle yet effective as possible.

Plus, the bottles do last a while! If you use them every day, a 30 mL bottle should last around 4 months.

But, if you can’t afford it, I think this would make a really great gift for a holiday, anniversary, birthday, whatever. So… Maybe send a link to a loved one to give them a hint. 😉
