I’m sure you’ve heard of Thrive Market, but in case you haven’t: it’s basically an online marketplace where you can get a bunch of organic and non-toxic products (groceries, personal care, cleaning supplies, etc.) all in one place.
I do my best to live low-tox, but I’m also on a tight budget. It can be difficult to shop 100% organic, especially with the cost of living being what it is these days. (I’m sure you feel it, too!)
I am also SUPER busy. I work 3+ jobs and homeschool my kids (currently ages 4, 6, and 8).
So, I wanted to find out if Thrive Market can help me buy healthier food (& other household items), while also saving me time AND keeping my budget in check.

This guide contains product recommendations and we may receive compensation if you purchase through certain links. It is not sponsored, but the product was gifted (thank you!). As always, we only make recommendations that are genuine! All prices were accurate at the time of original publication, but you should check the Thrive Market website for updated pricing.

Here’s what I got with $100 from Thrive Market
Kevin’s Natural Foods Honey Garlic and Orange Chicken Sauce
Price: $3.79
My take: I make most things from scratch in my kitchen, so it’s nice to have an easy way to switch up the meat + roasted vegetable staple meals I make. For $3.79 each, it’s a cheap and fast way to level up a basic meal. These were delicious and even my kids loved them!
Rosey Laundry Detergent (Free & Clear)
Price: $7.99
My take: I’ve been on the hunt for a non-toxic laundry detergent I love for what feels like forever. At $7.99, I couldn’t beat this price to give it a try! I also love that I can ship it to my door with other food staples we need regularly. So far I like it! Our clothes feel clean, and that’s all I can ask for.
Cascadian Farms Chewy Dark Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
Price: $4.79
My take: I grabbed these granola bars strictly for the convenience factor. I usually make my own, but it’s nice to have a good backup when I’ve forgotten to make a new batch and I need something easy to grab on the way out the door! My kids have tried this brand before so I knew they’d love them already.
LK Brand Beef Sticks
Price: $0 (free gift!)
My take: These were actually the free gift with my order. My kids love beef sticks for an on-the-go snack, but sometimes they’re too spicy for their liking. These were delicious, grassfed and no added sugar – and who doesn’t need a good protein packed snack? I’ll get these again.
Organic Pasta Sauce, Roasted Garlic, Thrive Market Brand
Price: $5.69
My take: For an organic pasta sauce, the price seems pretty reasonable. Bonus points for actually having some nice flavor and texture! Kid-approved for an easy pasta night meal.
Brave Day Medium Roast Coffee
Price: $14.49
My take: Coffee is my number one priority every morning, so this was a must-try for me. It has great flavor and it’s organic and direct-trade.
Organic Pretzel Crisps
Price: $5.99
My take: This is another item I knew my kids would like already. We use this for “snack-plate” style lunches all the time with sliced cheese, veggies, fruits, and some lunch meat.
Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap
Price: $16.49
My take: I use this as a base for the hand soaps in our home, and this is the same price if not better than getting it from my local grocery stores! It lasts quite a while since it’s so concentrated and it’s gentle on my kids’ hands.
Lovebird Grain-Free Cocoa Cereal
Price: $6.74
My take: This was a fun purchase for us! We aren’t a big cereal home, so it was fun to bring in something with whole, simple ingredients that makes breakfast feel a bit like a treat! I love that it’s free of all the junky additives and my kids still feel like they get something fun occasionally.
Purely Elizabeth Superfood Oatmeal & Collagen, Vanilla Pecan
Price: $4.34
My take: I bought this for myself as a breakfast treat because I was intrigued by the collagen! It’s nice to just warm up something quick for breakfast and this did turn out to be delicious.
Primal Kitchen Teriyaki Sauce & Marinade
Price: $7.79
My take: I’ve used these before as a chicken marinade or a sauce – this is another great trick to have on hand to make an easy, flavorful meal!
Kettle & Fire Classic Chicken Bone Broth
Price: $7.19
My take: I love a good bone broth, and Kettle & Fire makes such a flavorful, wholesome broth without any additives. I use these a lot for winter soups and stews, so they’re great to keep on hand.
Rao’s Basil Pesto
Price: $4.49
My take: Maybe by now you can tell I really like having easy meal options on hand. This is a great pasta add-on for me when I can’t take another night of the kids’ most requested meal (spaghetti). This is delicious!

Other things to consider when budgeting
Membership: In order to shop from Thrive Market, you have to be a member. An annual membership costs $59.95 per year (which comes to $5/month), OR you can do a monthly membership, which is just $12 per month.
(I really like that they added the monthly option because I think this makes things much more accessible. They used to only have the Annual option.)
They say that the membership model allows them to offer healthier consumer goods at 25% to 50% off retail prices.
Shipping: You can get free shipping on orders over $49.
Free gifts: I mentioned this above, but Thrive Market often gives you a free gift with purchase, which is another way you can save money while also potentially trying out new products you wouldn’t otherwise buy. I like how they let you choose from several items. (Some brands just automatically give you a free gift and I don’t always actually want that thing, so I feel like it goes to waste or I have to find someone who actually wants it.)
Buying in bulk: Depending on the product, you may be able to save some more by buying in bulk. You might see something like “Buy 4, Get 5% Thrive Cash.” That “Thrive Cash” basically goes towards your next order.
Other ways to get Thrive Cash: You can also earn Thrive Cash by referring friends & family to Thrive Market, leaving reviews, or shopping from their Deals Page. You could potentially save a lot of money this way if you play it right!
Price match guarantee: This is one of the best parts, and it basically guarantees that you won’t spend extra money by shopping at Thrive Market.
Their “Savings Guarantee” says that if you find the product for cheaper at another retailer (like Kroger or Walmart or whatever), they will credit you the difference in the form of Thrive Cash. (Just follow the directions on this page.)
Pros & Cons of Thrive Market
If you’ve never tried Thrive Market before (or are thinking about re-joining), here are some of the other factors that you may want to consider:
Potential Pros
In addition to the stuff I’ve already mentioned, here are some more positive things about Thrive Market:
1. It’s easy & time-saving.
Let’s be honest, people love Amazon for a reason: it saves time & energy. Anytime you can order a bunch of different products from the same place and get them delivered to your door, it’s a win.
The same goes for Thrive Market! (And considering that Thrive Market is WAY more ethical & sustainable than Amazon, shopping from Thrive could be a great way to reduce your Amazon consumption, if that’s something you’re trying to do!)
There are a lot of ways Thrive Market can save you time:
- Fewer trips to the grocery store and/or less time shopping from a bunch of different online retailers
- You can put products on autoship so you can don’t have to re-buy them—it just happens automatically
- You can easily shop from your phone with their mobile app
- You can easily filter products by dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan, keto, etc.) or values (organic, non-GMO, low-waste) to find what you need faster
- You can use their curated Shopping Lists option to quickly find recommendations from people like Dr. Mark Hyman, or to find lists by category (like TSA-approved products, or the Low Sugar Starter Kit)
2. A LOT of products to choose from.
I kind of mentioned this one already, but I think it’s worth having its own point. Being able to find a bunch of stuff you need in one place is so nice… It’s one of the reasons why you love Target, isn’t it?!
Thrive Market doesn’t just carry groceries—they also have cleaning supplies, personal care products, things for babies & kids, pet stuff, household necessities (toilet paper, etc.), supplements, and more.
3. Lots of reviews.
Here’s another reason why people love Amazon: because it’s so widely used, there are a lot of very useful reviews.
Once again, the same can be said for Thrive Market. A lot of their products have hundreds or thousands of reviews, which I really appreciate. I think this is another thing that saves me time, energy, and money. I can shop with more confidence knowing I’m probably not going to get something I don’t like.
(They are always adding new products though, so you will come across items that don’t have very many reviews.)
4. Healthier & more sustainable products.
Thrive Market’s whole thing is that everything is healthier. That means less toxic chemicals across the board.
Everything they carry is non-GMO, and they restrict 1,000+ ingredients (including artificial flavors, antibiotics, and parabens).
They also prioritize ethical & sustainable sourcing. That means things like Fair Trade Certified, low-plastic packaging, and more.
I think this is an especially compelling “pro” if you’re new to low-tox living.
5. Risk-free (Annual Membership).
If you try out the Annual Membership and you don’t like it, you can let them know within 30 days for a full refund. So if you’re on the fence, there’s little risk in trying it out.
(There is no refund available for the Monthly Membership, but that’s only $12/month, so if you cancel, you’d really only be out the $12.) You can cancel at any time to stop future charges though.
6. Fast delivery.
Although they don’t guarantee 2-day shipping, I have found that the orders come pretty fast. The order I talked about above actually did come in 2 days.
Potential Cons
Here are some potential downsides that you may want to consider:
1. Membership is required.
As I mentioned, you can’t shop from Thrive Market if you’re not a member.
The membership model allows them to not only offer you their Price Match Guarantee, but also things like free gifts and free shipping.
2. Not everything is 100% perfectly “clean”.
Depending on how strict your standards are, you still may want to check the ingredients on the products Thrive Market carries.
Although everything is free from the “worst offenders” (like parabens, for example), that doesn’t mean it’s all perfect.
For example, they carry brands like Mrs. Meyer’s, which I’m not a huge fan of due to their use of undisclosed “fragrance”. (You can read more about that here.)
That said, if you’re just starting out on your low-tox journey, I still believe shopping at Thrive Market is going to help you decrease your toxic load if you’re switching from another retailer like Amazon, Target, or Kroger.
3. No fresh produce.
Although you can get a lot of stuff from Thrive, you can’t get everything. They do offer frozen foods & meats, but you can’t get fresh produce. So you’ll still need to get some things from your regular grocery store.
