You may already be familiar with Just Ingredients, but just in case you aren’t: Just Ingredients is a supplement and personal care brand founded by Karalynne Call. Karalynne started out by sharing her own journey of healing on her Instagram account, primarily talking about the ways using real ingredients in and on her body helped to essentially turn her life around.
All of this eventually led to Karalynne starting her own brand of products. Now Just Ingredients offers a wide range of supplements and beauty/personal care products, all of which are made with all natural ingredients (they don’t use anything artificial!).
We (Lauren and Abbie) have been trying various Just Ingredients products over the past year. Today we’re going to tell you what we think, which products we would re-buy, and which ones didn’t make the cut.

This guide contains product recommendations and we may receive compensation if you purchase through certain links. As always, we only make recommendations that are genuine!
Just Ingredients Pros & Cons (in a nutshell):
Things we like:
- For the most part, their ingredients and formulations are very “clean”
- They use all natural ingredients
- They third-party test many of their products (like protein powders) for heavy metals
- and publish the test results right on the product page where you can see them
- They have a lot of products to choose from
- It’s a family-owned & locally-run business (based in Utah)
- They’re always expanding their collection and adding more products
- Some of their products are now available in big box stores like Whole Foods
Things we don’t like:
- We didn’t love all of their products from a user-standpoint. (See below for more.)
- We’re not huge fans of colloidal silver. (They use it as a preservative in some of their products and also sell it as a stand-alone supplement.)
- Not transparent about what kind of hydroxyapatite they use in their toothpaste & mouthwash.
- Folks with sensitivities to specific essential oils might have a problem because they don’t list the specific oils used (it just says “Essential Oil Blend” on many of their products)
- Not super low-waste.
Here’s what Lauren tried:

This was a big hit in my house—my kids love hot chocolate. This was a fun step up from the usual hot chocolate we make from scratch (which is just cocoa powder, salt, vanilla, and sugar).
This cocoa mix has some fun ingredients hidden inside, like turmeric and ashwaghanda root, which I love. I also love that it has no added sugar, so you can control how much you add in on your own.
Most of the ingredients are organic. They third-party test for heavy metals, and you can find the test results yourself right on the product page!
I would buy this again!
I loved this one from a user perspective. It’s a little stiff when you very first open it, but it quickly softens to the warmth of your lips and gives great moisture!
One issue I have with this one, though, is that the ingredient list on the label doesn’t match with the ingredient list on the product page. In the FAQ section, it says that all of the ingredients are organic, but zinc oxide is listed on the ingredients on the product details (zinc oxide cannot be organic). I also would like more clarity on whether or not the zinc is nano or not, especially since I’m putting it on my lips and could be ingesting it.
I would buy this one again if I could get some more clarity about the ingredients.
Body Lotion (Tropical Paradise)
I absolutely LOVE how this smells and feels on my skin. It rubs in very easily and leaves my legs feeling very hydrated.
As a heads up, this lotion is preserved with their “SilverSol Technology,” which means they use colloidal silver. This is an “iffy” ingredient. (Members can read more about our thoughts on the safety of that applied topically here, along with a full breakdown on the pros & cons of silver as a preservative.)
Also, folks who are sensitive to certain essential oils will want to know that they just list an “Essential Oil Blend” on the ingredient list. They don’t actually list out which specific ones they include.
On performance, I would totally buy this again. I have my reservations about the silver though, so I’m not sure. (Ultimately, you’ll have to decide for yourself whether you’re comfortable using colloidal silver or not.)
I’ve heard mixed reviews about this deodorant. Some friends have loved it, and others have complained it stained the armpits of their shirts.
Unfortunately, I found it left residue on my shirts that I couldn’t remove with stain remover in the wash – so this is a no for me.
It did a good job preventing underarm smell throughout the day, but I can’t sacrifice my clothes for that!
(Ingredient wise, it’s good to go. But again, they don’t list out the specific essential oils they use.)
Would not buy again.
Here’s a list of other natural & non-toxic deodorants you may want to check out instead.
Dry Shampoo (Vanilla Mint – Dark)
Loved this! The spray feature is cool. Most other non-toxic dry shampoos I’ve tried come in a shaker bottle, which can send dry shampoo all over the place. The push spray feature of this one seemed to direct the dry shampoo all in the right direction.
I found a little goes a long way with this—one squirt and then a rub is about all an area needs to be refreshed. Too much and your hair starts to feel a bit grainy. This dry shampoo did a great job soaking up excess oils and giving my hair a new illusion of clean!
Ingredient-wise, it’s good, but again, they don’t list out the specific essential oils.
I would buy this again.
Organic Face Scrub (Sweet Citrus)
Unfortunately, this was not a win for me. The sugar granules felt very rough on my skin, almost like they were scraping it.
Ingredient wise, it’s the same thing: pretty much all-good except that they don’t list out all of the essential oils used.
This was too harsh of a face scrub and I would not buy it again.
(Abbie recommends Birch Babe’s Gentle Face Scrub as an alternative to this. It still has exfoliating power, but it’s much more gentle on the skin. And it’s got a nice citrus scent.)
This didn’t do much for me. If you’re looking for hyaluronic acid just by itself (mostly), this is a fine option. I’m more used to it mixed in with additional powerful ingredients (more than just vegetable glycerin) that give it a more luxury product feel.
It just didn’t seem like it did much, to be honest.
It’s also preserved with their “SilverSol Technology,” which means they use colloidal silver. (Again, if you’re a member, you can read more about our thoughts on the safety of that here.)
(As an alternative, Abbie likes the Hyaluronic Acid from Desavery! Code THEFILTERY gets you 15% off.)
Organic Face Serum Oil (Jasmine Bloom)
This is a really straightforward ingredients list of oils that is great if you have more dry skin! I could see this being used in addition to a moisturizer for that boost of hydration. (Again: note that they do not list out all of the essential oils for this one either.)
I’m not a huge face oil person, so this isn’t something I’d buy again. But it smells great and leaves your skin still feeling refreshed and hydrated by the end of the day!
Here’s what Abbie tried:

First of all: the flavors! They have so many. So whether you tend to go for the standard protein flavors of chocolate or vanilla, or whether you’re super bored of that stuff and want to go for Mint Chocolate or Neopolitan or Strawberries & Cream… They have so many options! (I think my personal favorite is the Snickerdoodle, but it’s hard to decide.)
You can also grab a travel/sampler pack if you want to try some of the flavors before buying a big bag.
I like that they use a mix of protein sources—whey protein isolate, pea, collage, chia, and/or watermelon seed. This can help keep things balanced and minimize toxic contamination from any one specific source. (For example, pea protein tends to be higher in heavy metals, but animal proteins can contain PCBs.)
They do have vegan options available, though.
The other ingredients they use are totally real and many of them are organic. Nothing artificial and no “natural flavors” either. They use stevia and monk fruit for sweeteners.
Plus, they are third-party tested for contaminants and you can see the test results right on the product page, which I really appreciate.
There has been some recent controversy over Just Ingredients’ protein powder and their potential mislabeling of Prop 65, but to be honest, it’s not something I’m super concerned about. Unfortunately, there are trace amounts of heavy metals in all protein powders because those heavy metals are in our soil and in our food. To hear more about my thoughts on this, you can listen to Episode 14 of the Toxin Tidbits podcast.
Overall, I would buy this again.

Men’s Facial Serum (Mountain Pine)
I looove the smell of this. It really does smell like pine—it gives very nature-y vibes and I found it to be kind of grounding for my nervous system. I can still smell it long after I put it on, which I like, but it’s not too strong. (I am sensitive to fragrances, and this was not too much for me.) And they actually do list out the full essential oils for this one.
It feels very soft on my skin and is relatively lightweight, so I can use it for day or night.
My husband says he likes the smell of it, too. Now if I could only get him to actually moisturize his face!
I would buy this again.

If you’re an athlete or you have POTS or something like that, then you know how important it is to stay hydrated. (Apparently most of us are dehydrated anyway, and we don’t always get the minerals we need from our food.)
LMNT is the popular kid on the block, but if you’d rather skip the “Natural Flavors,” then you might want to give Just Ingredients a try.
These packets are made with all real fruit, and there’s no artificial ingredients at all. Many of the ingredients are organic, too. They’ve got a 3:1 potassium to sodium ratio, which gives you optimal hydration without excessive sodium.
It comes in several different flavors, including Guava Mango, Tropical Paradise, and Strawberry Limemade. I think my personal favorite is the Lemon Lime.
I would re-buy these.
(BTW, here are some more electrolyte brands to try if you want more options.)

Men’s Deodorant (Cedarwood Spice)
First of all, this deodorant smells really good—it definitely has that “manly” spicy smell. It’s made without baking soda, which can be irritating for some people.
Unfortunately, I can’t really speak to how well this one works because my husband still hasn’t made the transition away from conventional deodorant. He has used this deodorant a few times, but it’s mostly just been sitting on the shelf. 🤦♀️
I will update this if/when he ever decides to give this deodorant a real try… Or maybe I’ll just try it out myself!
Overall, I do recommend the men’s line. There aren’t a ton of truly non-toxic products that are geared towards men, so I’m glad Just Ingredients created this line. If you or someone in your life likes Old Spice and brands like that, the Just Ingredients line is definitely worth a try.

Because of my CIRS (mold illness), I think my liver could always use a little help. So I was excited to try this Liver Complex, which contains several ingredients I know are liver-supporting—like N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC), organic milk thistle, organic dandelion root, and more.
Unfortunately, it smelled really bad as soon as I opened it. I saw a couple of other reviews that said the same thing, and those folks said Just Ingredients gave them a free exchange, which is great.
I still finished the bottle because, again, I hate wasting stuff and I couldn’t be bothered to go through the process of exchanging it! 😆 But I won’t buy this again. I will probably just continue getting my supplements from Fullscript.

Remineralizing Tooth Powder (aka toothpaste)
At first, I really liked this toothpaste. But then the more I used it, the more I disliked it. 🙁
I like that it comes in a glass jar because the less plastic I can have in my life, the better. I hadn’t used a tooth powder before, so the concept was a little weird for me at first. You just dip your wet toothbrush into the jar, stick some of the powder to the bristles, and brush as normal.
As I used the toothpaste more, the powder inside the jar got wet and turned into a liquid. Honestly, I just started feeling kind of weird about it! Is it sanitary? But I don’t like to waste, so I still finished up the jar, continuing to dip my toothbrush into the liquid and use it as a normal toothpaste.
Another factor that gives me pause is the fact that Just Ingredients never answered my questions about their hydroxyapatite. Considering that some hydroxyapatite is safer than others, I wanted to know more about the size, shape, and sourcing of their hydroxyapatite before I felt comfortable using this for the long-term. As of right now, I don’t know if it’s micro- or nano-HAP and whether or not it’s the kind approved by the EU’s SCCS.
It’s similar with their mouthwash (which I did not try). The EU’s SCCS has said that nano-hydroxyapatite in mouthwash is safe in concentrations up to 0.465%. But I can’t find anything out about the hydroxyapatite used in Just Ingredients’ mouthwash… Is it nano? If so, what size/shape? And what’s the concentration?
I would not buy the tooth powder again.
So there you have it—our favorites and not-favorites from Just Ingredients! If you’ve tried their products, let us know in the comments below which ones are your favorite. We’re curious!
By the way, you can buy Just Ingredients on Amazon and certain products from Thrive Market, too.
